Howard Restor-A-Finish

"Restore It - Don't Strip It!"

Restor-A-Finish is a unique finish-penetrating formula that restores the original color and luster to your finish while blending out the blemishes and minor scratches. Restor-A-Finish restores the finish in one step - without removing any of the existing finish.

Restore-It - Don't Strip It! -With a simple wipe-on, wipe-off process, most finished wood surfaces that seem to need a refinishing job can be completely restored in a few minutes. White heat rings and water marks, sun fade, oxidation, smoke damage, and most other blemishes can be quickly eliminated. Before you go to the extreme of stripping it, try restoring it!Restor-A-Finish is available in nine colors: Neutral, Maple-Pine, Golden Oak, Cherry, Walnut, Mahogany, Dark Walnut, Dark Oak, and Ebony Brown.

Treat Scratches, Nicks, and Abrasions - Restor-A-Finish works best when applied with a small pad of toweling, or for severe white rings and crazing, with Super Fine(0000) steel wool. DO NOT pour directly on the finish. When using steel wool, always rub with the grain of the wood. First, determine the pressure you should use on an inconspicuous spot, as the hardness of finishes vary.

Revive Wood Finishes - Wipe on the appropriate color of Restor-A-Finish with a clean cloth. Let it stand for a few minutes then wipe dry. If you desire a slightly darker shade, simply apply a darker color of Restor-A-Finish.

White Heat Rings and Water Marks - Apply Restor-A-Finish (see above) with steel wool and rub hard enough with the grain of the wood to blend out the white effect. If high gloss finish should appear dull due to the use of steel wool, polish it out with a Howard Polishing Compound or Burnishing Cream.

Raised and Blistered Finishes - Apply Neutral Restor-A-Finish (to prevent darkening of wood beyond temporary "wet effect") with steel wool. As blisters soften press down while the Restor-A-Finish is applied. Wipe dry, and again later if the surface "blooms" with excess Restor-A-Finish.

Restore Minor Crazed or Checked Finishes - Apply Restor-A-Finish with Medium Grade(00) steel wool. Rub hard enough to smooth out the finish, periodically checking your progress. Checked or crazed surfaces may absorb an excess of Restor-A-Finish and "bloom out" requiring another wiping later.

Treat Carved Wood - Restor-A-Finish has saved many hours of labor by restoring the finish on carved portions of furniture and clocks. Simply apply Restor-A-Finish with a small paint brush or soft tooth brush and wipe off.

Tips -Be careful to protect fabric, carpets, and linoleum when applying Restor-A-Finish. It may leave a permanent stain. If spilling occurs, immediately scrub areas with straight liquid detergent or stain remover and wipe dry. Be sure to cover a small area at a time when applying Restor-A-Finish. Always wipe dry. DO NOT apply Restor-A-Finish to the new imitation wood finishes or use it under polyurethane finishes.

"As a 32 year veteran of working with wood, over the years I have experimented with a number of products.
As a result, I am proud to offer you the following wood care, leather and metal polishing products which I personally use on my wood creations at the studio, as well as at my home on my furniture, doors, cabinets and wood sculpture. I first came across Feed-N-Wax in the late 70's and have been using it on my natural art pieces ever since. The natural Paste Wax is excellent for applying a protective finish on a variety of surfaces beyond wood. I use the Wood & Upholstery Soap to clean restoration projects, cabinets, and furniture, then I use the Orange Oil as an occasional protective coating.  When I have a restoration which has been scratched or the surface has been marred, I am usually able to restore the items finish with Restor-A-Finish. Using the Burnishing Cream followed by the and Polishing Compound is a great way to restore the shine of a dull finish before without having to resort to sanding, stripping the original finish and then matching the color which can be very time consuming.

The resent items to my offering are an added plus.  The Butcher Block Conditioner can be used on butcher block counter tops, cutting boards and all your wooden bowls which will come in contact with food products.  The Leather Conditioning Cream is excellent I use it water proofing leather boots and conditioning leather items such as baseball mitts and leather furniture.

Howard now offers SunWax, an exterior wax which has UV inhibitors in it and it combines a blend of carnauba wax, beeswax and orange oil.  I am presently doing some testing on this product on my vigas and portal post and if it meets my test, I may be offering it to my line of wood care products.

For your fine metals I offer Howard's Silver Polish and Copper & Brass Polish.
